Tbilisi - Georgia and NATO are actively negotiating the possible enlargement of Georgia's involvement in the international efforts in Afghanistan.

Georgia is negotiating forms in which it could broaden this involvement with NATO and other partners, Manana Manjgaladze, a presidential press secretary, said at a news briefing on Tuesday.

Up to 1,000 Georgian servicemen are currently deployed in Afghanistan. Georgia is also seeking to send its civilian specialists to the country.

Tbilisi has said repeatedly it could help Afghanistan in carrying out economic reforms and reforms of law enforcement agencies, and also in training local military servicemen. In particular, Georgia said it could train Afghan artillerists.
